Army Men: Air Attack Review

Army men Air attack is a underrated gem for the playstation one. An helicopter game taking place in a back garden as toy soldiers. The small plastic ones you can get in poundland.
You take the role of a green helicopter pilot as you fight in the ongoing war against Plastro and his tan army.
From what seems to be a weak premise a game about playing with plastic toy soldiers. Comes a fun and often taxing game. That offers hours of enjoyment. Air Attack's difficulty spikes after the fifth mission and is determined to make you its bitch. Health starts becoming scarce and the enemies more numerous. You start with huey but unlock more helicopters as you progress until you get the amazing apache. You can also select your co pilot. Though this mainly just a voice you hear rather than anything gameplay orientated.
Unlike most games for the psone, army men air attack also has a password save which means the memory card is not a necessity. As you can play from the missions you left from. The battle grounds are back gardens and everything is big. Though the levels do lack variation. As do the villians. Air attack does throw bugs at you, as a third set of enemies. These do add some on the fly moments.
The graphics look really good. Using plastic soldiers means 3DO didn't have to focus on textures. Giving Air attack a more timeless look.
Army men air attack is a great game and worthy addition to any playstation one collection. With only seventeen missions it c an feel on the short side but as you can replay them once you have unlocked other helicopters and with two players it adds replayibilty. But I am playing with original Playstation controller and would highly advise using the dual shock as the d-pad is harder to use and the analogue sticks add so much more to Army men.
